A very comfortable and relatively snag free beat. The river doesn't offer wide scenic variations from one end to the other but does provide plenty of easily accessible swims to chose from if that is what you're after. We chose to park by the cattle grid and walked 15 minutes along the river to the top of the beat. The water was up a bit with the recent rain and a touch of colour gave us plenty hope for the day ahead.
A 5lb barbel was taken in the first 10 mins of the first bait going in. It was caught close in along the inside edge so this is where we focused our attention for most of the morning especially as weed was a problem if casting more than a third of the way over to the other side. Bright sunshine and light winds made for a pleasant day to be out but wasn't great for the fishing. All went quiet until the afternoon but we kept busy by taking plenty of smaller fish on mini baits. As the sun dropped lower we staggered the rods across the river and despite the weed doing its best to dislodge the line as soon as it went in, we managed another couple of barbel to 8lb mid river. If we had persisted with longer casts throughout the day we may well have managed a few more. Another great day and a few more lessons learnt!
Thanks to the WUF.

No fish caught nor bites had. It didn't help that a match had been held on the opposite bank on the previous day!
River was low and clear and weather was overcast and ideal fishing obviously affected by over activity unfortunately!

Fishing very poor, river very low with lots of debris and weed coming down the river, was impossible to keep a rig in the water for more than 5 mins!

A beautiful day to be on the river and also to be on a beat we'd never been too before. As such there's always a bit of uncertainty as to which the most productive swims might be. As it turned out, none of the 6 we tried were. Although the river looked in perfect condition (other than some floating leaves, we didn't get a single bite all day. Previously successful methods (pellet with swim feeder) produced nothing and experimentation with other baits and methods proved no better. Was it too bright, too warm? No idea, but other than the weather and gorgeous surroundings, a very disappointing day.

This is a stretch we've fished before so we knew it could be a challenge to get something out. Sure enough, it proved to be a bit of a challenge. Conditions were not so bad, water low , clear, and a bit sluggish . tried a variety of swims with pellet/feeder tactics and only had one bite and one barbel to 8lb3 oz right at the last cast. This stretch fishes better with a bit of a push of water through it and a bit of colour. We will be back .

Started well with an early 8lb barbel, but hot, bright conditions and a dropping river soon slowed things down. We fished into dusk with no further action. A nice beat with good access; will almost certainly be back when there's some fresh water and a bit less sunshine!

River was low and clear and a very bright sunny day made fishing difficult. Both fish caught on pellets.
