5 Chub on bread and cheese paste. River still holding a lot of colour and fish were hard to find. Fished almost every swim and caught from two.

Conditions couldn't have been more against us. Hard frost, clear sky and rising river. Between us we fished every swim on the beat for a hard earned 4 Chub. Bait's included cheese paste, bread and pellet.

Turned up to find the river totally void of life. Just the way I like it! Started at the top end and managed a 4lb chub after an hour using a boilie bait I'm testing for a mate. I then worked my way down each swim using my trusted free running ledger approach finishing on 3 chub and 5 barbel, the biggest just tipping 9lb. Great days fishing.
Word of caution to those going be careful on the banks as some swims are pretty steep and the mud can be deadly. I nearly ended up on my back a few times.
Cheers for a great day. Hopeful I'll be back very soon.

The lane was so bad due to the weather and such, the only two parking spaces that are allowed were inaccessable. Forty quid down the drain, wont be going back here.

River looked good and was rising slowly after some cold overnight rain. In water visibility of around 8". 3 Chub to 3lbs from the upper end, 2 Pike to low doubles and 2 Barbel, biggest 8lbs 12oz on pellet feeder/boilie combo.
First time on this very scenic stretch.

First blank on the Wye. Water running quite low and clear for this time of year. Temperature had dropped suddenly the day before and we had the first frost of the Autumn overnight, so I guess that combined with bright sunshine all day wasn't ideal.
Fished feeder with meat bolies and tried 5 different swims, but not a touch all day. Beautiful location - lots of wildlife, including buzzards, a peregrine and a barn own hunting and this stretch certainly looks the part for barbel - will probably return next summer to have another go.
