Although the weather was atrocious and we had to drive through floods to get there we still caught a few fish, 5 barbel to 10lb 1oz and a couple of small chub.

1 barbel between 3 rods. Not a good day as river low and clear.

After a frosty start the sun came out and it really was a lovely September day. Unfortunately all 3 of us blanked, an absolute disaster. It is a wonderful stretch, peaceful and easy to park in the dry for 3 cars. However luck was not with us. We will be back though!

Wonderful stretch of water with just about every type of swim imaginable. Weather was too bright for much action during the day but as soon as the sun went behind the trees, the action started. Had three barbel (4lb, 4lb & 7lb) in the last hour. Lost a double figure fish after a twenty minute battle. Last hour made up for 6 hours of inactivity.
A bad days fishing beats a good days working!

Only 2 rods fished in the end. Beautiful stretch with the 9 or so cut out swims all accessible in the conditions. Unfortunately very slow until late afternoon when we managed to catch 4 Barbel to just under 8lbs. Parking in field only accessible to 4 wheel drive due to deep ruts at entrance but not too far to walk to the river. Thanks to WUF again for the opportunity to fish this lovely river.

A frustrating start to the days fishing with anglers fishing from the opposite bank wading out and casting up close to pegs on the How Caple Court stretch, who then insisted that 1 of the rods in our party could not fish his selected peg as the fisherman/"poacher" from the other bank was fishing it for the following reasons 1. it was to shallow on his side 2. he claims to pay £500 a year to fish his stretch!!! Attempted to contact Wye & Usk on the 01982 560 788 number but was unable to get an answer !!!!
A few Barbel & Chub did eventual show later in the day.
WUF could really do with providing a number that can be answered over the weekend so these sorts of incidents can be reported ASAP and assistance sought from the baliff of the stretch.

River low & clear so decided to floatfish for the early part of the day. Both rods caught loads of dace plus the odd chub to 4lb. Tried the pellet feeder towards evening with no success. Lovely stretch and would return for the dace fishing alone.

This was our last day on the fabulous river Wye before the journey south to Jersey. Again we were met by another bright and sunny day with clear water which made it a very pleasent day. A total of 4 barbel and a couple of chub landed from a late start and early finish.
Thank you for allowing us access to these wonderful stretches of this great river.

An stunningly beautiful stretch of river but fishing was slow (may have had wrong approach) as we only fished three swims, one 5lb8oz chub made the wait worthwhile.

A bright and warm day with river low and clear made conditions difficult. However 3 barbel and two chub were caught - best barbel at just 8lbs.
