River nice height at 1metre but very brown ( more than one would expect). Very disappointing results. We fished a total of 3 good swims but the barbel were not having it . We suspect that something in the flood water was affecting their appetite .

Very exposed fishing due to the prevailing winds - we felt every bit of the forecast 50pmh winds. I blanked - my daughter saved the day by landing 3 chub and 3 barbel with a best of the day fish of 9:0. The heavy flow forced us to fish pellet under the rod top on a rising river.

This was a return to a much favoured beat - conditions looked amazing - extra coloured water (about 1 foot up) and good flow, mix of cloud and sunshine... however it never really got going. All anglers would manage the odd bite without ever really getting anything consistent. This led to everyone moving about a bit and some swims gave another odd bite but some didn't. Strangely the more the day drew on, the less they seemed to bit. Lovely day out though and the swims and access are all excellent. Will definitely return

Excellent day on the river. Our first time on the Wye yielded some cracking fish. Barbel averaged 7lb plus with a couple towards 10lb.
Chub to around 5lb and 4 eels to 3lb.
Helpful advice from the keeper put us on the fish throughout the afternoon on a falling river after a rise of about a foot the previous day. Thanks.

Hopes were high as conditions looked good but we couldn’t find the barbel until late in the evening, and then just the one on the feeder.
The afternoon spent trotting was lovely though. A lovely beat with well maintained access to swims. Thanks.
