Beautiful autumn day on the Wye. Four anglers fished the bottom of the beat.. Two of us blanked. 5 barbel - biggest 10lb 4oz - and 4 chub shared between the two of us that did catch. All on feeder and pellet.

Very nice location but with river in flood very hard to find swims .tough day but at least we didn’t blank 1 very nice Chubb

After yesterday’s struggles on the Creel and the rains falling heavily most of the night, we were not overly optimistic arriving at the river and seeing it very high. Found the swims with the slacker water and hoped for the best. Not a single bite all morning and with a river still rising, hopes were diminishing rapidly. After we stopped for a bite to eat at lunchtime the barbel must have decided it was feeding time too. 5 barbel to just over 10lb and a couple of small chublets was a pleasant surprise in such a swollen river. Plus the sun came out!
As a footnote we stayed at the Hostelrie at Goodrich and we can highly recommended it, good food, beers and wonderful staff.

Normal feeder tactics, 1 barbel weighing in at 9lb 4 fought well especially in the fast flowing conditions.
Heavy rain all day made it very slippery under foot.

4 Barbel, 10 Chub

The river was dropping but still really pushing through, we fished a few pegs and managed 1 Chub at 4lb 2oz and 3 Barbel weighing between 8lb 10oz - 8lb 15oz, caught on pellet and luncheon meat.
Still a great day out!

Feeder fished pellets bottom two swims only one fishable due to high water level.

Difficult day on rising river but managed to winkle a few out. Water was clear enough to use maggots which accounted for all the fish apart from the largest barbel which was caught on meat.

2 Barbel, 4 Chub, 3 Other

Fished for a second day with only one barbel (8-5). River starting to rise again and more rain forecast. Care needed on slippery banks.

1 Barbel, 1 Pike

Only a couple of swims on the lower end producing fish. Best barbel 8-10 and chub to 4-8 on feeder fished meat and pellet.
