Just a quick shimmy up this old favourite ....Tis only short, so wasnt there long ...WUF, HOW ABOUT GETTING THIS SECTION EXTENDED .....??????
Anyway, six on dries.... two were really strong , decent twelve inch fish , and, i gotta say they put a serious bend in the little six foot, two weight dinky dry fly rod ....Great fun !!!
The river level is back down, from the other day , wish it held its water a tad better !!!
The dry fly sport was pretty darn good though in fairness, but, there was a niggling, downstream breeze, making things tricky !!!!
The heron was half asleep when I turned up ... really gave him a shock !!!There's two resident herons that patrol the wye on the town stretch in Rhayader.... Those, dog walkers and the usual disturbances in a town river, means if I've got a client, who fancies an evening session, after dinner, we just get out of town a mile or so, where its peaceful !!!....
Fished the Oakfield beat for an hour and a half ...Really needs more tagging on to it !!! Make it worthwhile, for a travelling angler. I'll do a few farm recces this autumn....See how i get on !!!!
Overall, a fun, brief fish on an old favourite ......
Back over to Llanddewi for a couple of hours now ..
Happy days !!!!

Fished both after lunch and then again after supper.
The evening was active.
Caught four trout but there were probably another 20 or even 30 who refused the fly, spat it out, or weren’t hooked well enough.

River Conditions: Very low water levels throughout the beat. Fish Activity: Limited signs of fish, observed only towards the upstream limits. Catch: No fish caught. Method Used: Dry fly.

Notes/Recommendations: Likely to improve once river levels rise; higher flows should encourage better fish movement and sport.

River low, to be expected from recent dry spell. Temperature lower than last few days, with rain in the air and blustery breeze. Nothing rising and no fish seen.

Only had a couple of hours spare, so made my first visit to Oakfield, early evening. River fairly low. Occasional mayfly coming off. Saw a few rises, and my small mayfly got a few takes. These Welsh wild brownies are however , quick to reject an artificial, hence none to hand. Must improve my reaction timing!!
