Very cold morning to start at 3 c. Fished spiders and a gold head flashback hares ear on the point. All fish apart from one caught on the top end of the bottom part of the beat. The brownie was caught at the very bottom of the beat. Managed the obstacle course for the top of the beat which is not easy for an old man. Usually catch up there but nothing this time. Greenwells spider, Partridge and orange and the flashback caught the fish. Still a bit slippery under foot in places.

Fished from 10:30 to 4:00. The river was around 1.05m (Erwood gauge), a little lower would have been preferable but it was manageable. The weather was not great, very cold air temperature, blustery winds from every direction and intermittent torrential rain. One brown trout caught on a sedge dry fly pattern during a brief spell with no wind and a little sunshine when fish started rising (Stone Catch), the other two fish caught on tungsten bead headed nymphs under an indicator (Lady Alexanders Catch)

A chilly start but as the sun cleared the trees the air at least began to warm up. Fished up the Stone Catch euro nymphing but with no success. Around midday a mixed hatch of various small sedges and the odd olive started to drift off so switched to wet flies. Fishing Northern style spiders was more productive taking 3 out of season grayling on a Waterhen Bloa on the dropper and 2 trout on a Partridge & Orange with a wire body on the point.

Euro nymphing and indicator nymphing. A few rises to dries. River was lower and clearer than recent days. Not perfect but quite fishable.
