River in excellent condition, with plenty of trout showing around midday/early afternoon. P Lloyd landed 2 fine trout - one of 2lbs, the other 1lb. Both on dry fly.

Two fish caught and returned on partridge & Orange spider from the bottom of the beat.

There was a big hatch of March Browns about 13:00 in the top glides of the beat but only a couple of fish on the far bank rising to them. A cold westerly wind picked up in the afternoon and put pay to the fishing .

What an excellent day, great beat, well maintained and full of trout. Arrived at 11am and at Owners suggestion a march brown hatch started at 11.30. Trout rising all over the Rock pool and bridge flats. Lost 3 during that rise and then had to wait until later in the afternoon for next rise on which I banked 3. Two were circa 1lb mark. Lots of Granum all day skimmimg over the surface. Best when the wind died a little.

Fantastic Mid day session. Fish were straight up on top to March browns about Mid day. Caught two on spider pattern and then changed to dry. Proceeded to catch 7 more. Had to leave mid afternoon sadly. Rock pool and Bridge pool Flats provided the sport. Banks were immaculate.

I'll be back.

Used Olive and March Brown dries from 11.30am to 14.30 pm about 1/2 way along beat, wading in about 20ft. Plenty of fish rising just didn't connect to any of them. River had a steady flow.

Apart from one small section the wading is extremely challenging unless you have a stick and know what you are doing. One 3/4 pound brown to a natural nymph. Broken off on the same fly by another. Lost two on dries, on and off again, but very few rising fish and only in very short bursts. Not a beat I'd return to.

River in fine fettle, clear, a little too high at 1.5m at Monmouth to make the most of the fly water on the beat though. Otherwise a great day in the shadow of Goodrich castle a few trout on the fly got things going for the new season nothing to the spinning rods. No Salmon seen or touched, we'll be back being March there's time yet to make the most of the spring season!

Bright breezy day. Fished from 3 pm to 6.30 pm - nothing rising and very little evidence of activity in general. Easy access and wading and a lovely spot.

Very windy and too difficult to cast a fly line……beautiful scenery though.
