Lovely beat, if a little small. Also very expensive given the size of the bear when compared to others.
No salmon even seen, but 2 average sized trout caught and one lost. Imagine the beat will be better later in the year.

Sunny and bright with a light upstream breeze. Very little surface activity so nymphed for most of the day. Tried dry fly in likely places but no joy. Water very clear and fish easily spooked.

Conditions were bright and a cold wind. The odd fish rising, missed a few on dry fly. The fish that were all taken on nymphs fished upstream. They were all between 1/2 and 1lb.

The river was carrying a bit of colour. At one o'clock there was a brief hatch (LDO's, MB's?) and the fish responded. 3 fell to the dry fly. Other than that the others came intermittently to spiders. It was very pleasant to be out on a river again after the winter.

Bright and sunny with the river running clear. Both fished weighted nymphs for most of the day without a touch. Virtually no fly on the water. The odd fish rose on the glide at the bottom but couldn't interest them with anything. One of those days.

No fish caught but wonderful to be on Usk, albeit on low water with slim hope of fish running with heavy rain at back end.

Quite a nice beat but would benefit from a little work. Great for left handers as most of the casting is from the bank so not really possible to double spey or snake roll. I can fish left handed but its not as easy as fishing right handed and due to the overhanging trees on the far bank some accuracy is required. Would just about support two rods with decent water but in low water there would only be enough fishing for one rod. Had a coloured cock of about 6lb and five nice trout up to 1.5lb. Also had a few good pulls. A good day out.
