Lovely beat.
Just two fishing .
Heavy rain till mid morning then intermittent sunshine.
No obvious sign of fish moving.
Early afternoon the water started to rise and become coloured. The next day should have been good…!

Left Gloucestershire in heavy rain, got to Brecon and it was dry but by the time we arrived in Builth it was chucking it down again. Originally we were heading for the Irfon but sitting in the car park in Builth watching that rising we decided to go down stream on the main river to hopefully avoid the rising water till later in the afternoon.

The old man managed to get a trout pretty quickly and we thought we might manage to at least get a few more but that was it. The water came up and by 3 o’clock we called it a day.

In hindsight probably shouldn’t have fished but with the end of the trout season approaching it was worth a go. Still it’s nice to be outside in the countryside.

So much of successful fishing trips are about timing. Today was a classic example where the LONG AWAITED water influx meant that all the blanket weed that's covered the bottom for weeks seemed to come pass me! This meant that the lead and bait were covered in 10 to 15 seconds with the rod tip ripping round. Gave 3 swims a go with the same result and didn't fair any better on the float. Packed up at lunchtime to retain the very little hair I have left
