slow day on this stretch, plenty of water to go at but the fact anglers can fish the other bank (and it was busy...) limited where you could slot in ..of course not wanting to fish directly opposite, or merely meters down from someone and spoil there and my own fishing!

Found a couple decent looking swims in the first field, boat and canoe traffic was just a joke from 11am - 2pm though so I'd recommend not even bothering during that time. people coming in close, one couple deciding to swap seats in my swim and ending up beneath my feet! - in the end I managed 5 chub, couple really long lean fish, just spawned would of been 5s but as they were two about 4 half and the others between 2-3lb. One lost fish, possibly a Barbel kited me on long line into a overhanging tree, snagged and managed to throw the hook.

track down is fine for about 80%, but that last 20% is not great in just a 2WD car - if it had any sustained rain would be struggle, would recommend a 4x4 if possible.

Both my girlfriend and I really enjoyed Thomas Wood fishery although we found it difficult to access the majority of pegs upstream. We fished 1 spot to no avail, this prompted a move downstream towards the meadow. My girlfriend caught her second Barbel of the week and her second PB @ 6lb 8oz. This was followed by 2 chub and unfortunately she lost another Barbel not long before we packed up. Great day :)

Evening session . One barbel 6lb 14oz. Track down to the river is quite steep and uneven, didn't enjoy getting the car back up it. Would prefer somewhere to park at the top and then walk down through the field rather than having to take the car down through it.

Arrived at about 12 after driving up, decided to get in the water and fish the float and see what happened. Caught lots of little Chublets which seemed to get smaller the bigger the bait I used as well as a random 1lb Brownie who fought like a lion. Switched to leger and pellet for the last two hours and managed to winkle out a couple of better chub to around 3lb. Really enjoyable day.

Now the wrinkly subject of the track, first 80% is as claimed a solid gravel track last part however is a steep, rutted and loose. Lots of cars seemed to have no trouble but I wasn't convinced my van would get back out. So I opted to park up at the workshop and barrow my gear down. Slightly hard going but no worse then some walks to swims. Did I need to do this, who knows! But I was happy to walk.

I did not fish at all, having walked this section after a morning on the Home Farm section I decided that few swims that were accessible were to dangerous to fish. Having to scramble down ten feet of bank to then have a few square feet of outcrop to stand on and land fish is not my idea of a days enjoyable fishing. I would recommend that any booking this section take a knotted rope so that they can secure to a tree or something at the top, they would then have something to help get back up. The fishery management team need to make swims more accessible and safer.
Fishing Passport Note: the banks of both the Wye and Usk are protected as a Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). There are, therefore, strict limits as to what can be done with regards bank clearance, which has to be done sensitively and in compliance with the law. Inevitably there will be many inaccessible sections, especially in the peak bank growth months of July and August. We ask all anglers to please bear this in mind when booking Fishing Passport beats and not to assume fishery managers are not doing their job if some areas are overgrown.
