One small barbel. Two decent chub - biggest 4lb 4oz. One eel. All caught fishing quite close in to the near bank as there was a lot of debris coming down the river - at one point a whole tree around 20ft long came down the river sideways!

Did not fish.
We took a look at the whole fishery, and had a chat with the two others on the fishery. We thought that the limited number of swims gave little to choose from, particularly with anglers on the opposite bank. It may be that wye and usk could consider restricting the rods allowed on the beat to just a couple.
However within the hour the river had risen about six inches with so much stuff pushing through you couldn't keep a line in the water. this ranged from clumps of weed to whole trees!

Difficult to access a good swim here, there could be some nice spots but the best places to fish right now are all cattle drinks(!)
Weather turned for the worse and so left early, 1 knock in the morning.

Barbel 6.5lbs. 1 chub 3lbs 2oz. The rest were all over 4lbs with the best 4.14. River was higher than 3 weeks ago and pushing through well. Slightly coloured. Weed was a problem throughout the day. The Fishing Passport website was excellent.

really difficult day river level had risen overnight and water was a chocolate brown difficult to fish with feeder because so much weed was coming down really thought a blank was on the cards decided to trot down a nearside run feeding maggots and managed to nab a good chub.

Very picturesque fishery although it must be said the car journey down to the beat is tricky due to steep slopes and narrow tracks. The river runs at a medium pace and the weed is low meaning both trotting and ledgering are possible. However the day that we were there the barbel proved elusive despite us trying most swims in the downs stream section. As a consolation we did manage to pull out some lovely looking and hard fighting Chub to 5 lb on trotted meat.
