Arrived just before 8.00 to find the river low and clear. There was heavy cloud and it was very still with few signs of fish moving. The morning produced only 5 fish between us. The temperature seemed to drop around lunchtime and this livened things up in the afternoon, giving us a much better day than we feared. In total, we took 27 fish between us, mostly trout with about half a dozen grayling, the best of which was around 12oz. One more substantial trout of well over a pound was hooked and lost. The early evening rain which we thought might end fishing for the day just seemed to freshen things up even more. Most fish were taken on small, weighted nymphs.
This is a really good beat for two anglers and we have fished it a number of times before. There is plenty of room and plenty of variety.

I fished this beat from 2 - 7pm. Started just below the bridge and caught a 10" wbt almost immediately, on a JT tungsten bead PTN #18 under a Klinkhamer, but this was not to continue. Lots of small fry splashing at the Klink and chasing the nymph. Ended the day with 4 more small wbt to 6" and a nice grayling about 8". The water was nice and clear, a little low in places but flowing well.

Absolutely beautiful location, especially with some scattered sunshine.

Fished late afternoon, some rain. 2 brown trout caught, 10 inches each, on barbless hooks, and released. Comment: it seems impossible to fish a good deal of this beat, as it is too deep in parts for chest waders and the banks are defended by barbed wire.

First time here. Cloudy and no wind for a change - wonderful! Hardly any emerging bugs: a couple (literally) of YMs and mayfly, and some sedges, and that was about it - so standard, sparse mid-July fare. Few rises apart from the odd oncer - all appeared to be trout and didn't catch a grayling either all day. Had nothing on nymphs but caught and released 13 trout mainly of 7-10 inches with three of 11-12". Taken on hare's ear emergers and on a small black F fly. Haven't noticed the marked white leading edge on the Lugg trouts' anal fins before (so "nil points" for past observation).

Very wet day only fished for about two hours on my way back home. I had one take on a GHHE. Found the access quite difficult in places climbing over wet stiles with chest waders. A scenic valley quiet and lush. Need to buy more flies as most of them ended up in the trees.

We had a wonderful day at Lypole Fishery. Plenty of trout to 1 lb (about 6 to 8 trout) for each of us. We tried to catch a few big grayling, but I only caught two small grayling on the nymph. Despite the nice weather there was no hatch so only few fish were rising. Most trout came to small nymphs.

5 Brown trout all returned. Wonderful dry fly fishing (until the rain came and the wind changed) on small klinkhamers. Lovely beat in a stunning valley.
