Get all the excuses out of the way first, river was slow, quite clear and it was sunny.

Had a decent chub (4lb+) first thing plus lost a barbel. Several hours after a move I finally caught a barbel mid afternoon followed by 3 chub. Nothing in the last couple of hours.

Still love this beat, but it didn't fish well for me today. Certainly be back again next autumn.

A good day despite atrocious conditions, the rain not letting up from dawn til dusk. Bank erosion plus wet ground makes for an interesting combination of fishing and dog spike abseiling - despite the presence of said dog spike both of us nearly ended in the drink on several occasions.
Fished the steps plus the one next door, fish falling to various baits through the day. We both tried further downstream for a change but the banks are so high and treacherous it was difficult to find safe places to fish.
All in all, despite ending up wetter than a barbels pocket, a great day and we'll be back when we dry out

Barbel feeding well on pellets although the wind made presentation difficult.

Another good day for me on The Creel which continues to be a very consistent venue....Steady sport all day with the best Chub 5lb 10 oz caught on usual feeder tactics....Probably would have captured a couple more but left early for the long trek home.
Thanks to the owners and WUF for the opportunity of fishing this terrific beat

Quite a tough day on the river today, it was at a good level but the clear water didn’t help, but 6 barbel of average stamp and 3 chub about 5lb made for a good days fishing, most taken on meat.

Last minute booking as river was at a great level for me and weather was glorious. Had to be the Creel, a magical serene place. I fished a plugged maggot feeder most of the day accounting for almost all the fish. Had Barbel upto 7lb and hard fighting Chub just over 4lb, lost a few big fish in the snags or rocks in the middle. I did get a few of the big Chub on balsa fishing maggot but the downstream wind did hinder presentation a bit. Absolute stunning Autumnal day. Wildlife as always included Herons, crazy Geese, Kingfishers, Red Kites and Kestrels. Been trying new swims this year here and having good returns. Look forward to my next visit soon. Thanks WUF for the wonderful memories.
