Parked in the middle parking spot and fished a few sections down towards the lower section of the beat. 6 trout caught on nymphs from 10.00ish - 13.00ish. The pool with the big beech tree looked really nice for salmon so went and got the salmon rod and started fishing just downstream of the neck of the pool, first cast went out and as it swang saw a salmon jump right in front of me at the neck of the pool no more than 6/7 ft away! Beautiful looking fish, lovely fresh colours and easily 10lb+. Went back and tried fishing the neck from above but no takes, think it was on its way through upstream. Disappointed not to catch but great to see it, made my day. River started colouring up quite bad not long after and packed up and went at 16.00. Very heavy showers and i don’t hold out much hope for my booking on the upper Wye tomorrow.
Fishing Passport note: The price of day tickets is the same at Fenni Fach regardless of whether salmon or trout fishing. Switching between the two is therefore fine. Please note that on other beats, fishing for salmon on a trout ticket that is cheaper is not permitted.

First time on this beat. No salmon touched or seen. Water clearing and at the perfect height 1'6".
Some lovely pools to fish. The pools would really benefit from some pruning. It wouldn't take long. Its annoying to be wading , speycasting and keep whacking rod tip. The other bank looks more cared for.

A nice sunny day, I fished from the top of the beat down past the middle (in two stages middle first) there were a few trout rises, however I fished wet flies / nymphs touched on two but land no fish, (I just need to be quicker next time). This is a nice stretch of river well maintained, with sections to please / suite all anglers.
I will return to this very nice beat.

Lovely day on the water. Some Large Dark Olives around and fish taking the dry and nymph fairly well most of the day until the ebbing river level and temperature dropped about 4pm which was not great for the fishing although one or two fish still willing. Most fish around the 8oz-1lb mark with one or two larger ones and a long release on a 2lb+ fish! Thank you WUF for a memorable fishing day.

Great to be back by the Usk again. I hoped that the water would be just right, fining down after the rain; and indeed it was. But the fish had some other excuse this time.

Bright sunny day with cool upstream breeze.
Not much happening until midday, at which point thd odd LDO started coming off. By 12.30 a few fish were showing and more olives about.
Accuracy in casting was tested with the blustery wind and long leader.
3 fish came up for the fly, 2 hooked and one refusal.
The action lasted less than an hour, which is the shortest I have noticed in the last 2 weeks (maybe due to the wind?)
Both fish similar size at about 1lb.
Very pleasant, if short, spell of fishing.
