On arrival, no one there to open gate, kept pushing buzzer and waited for ages and eventually let ourselves in. Your instructions said to report to Estate Office on arrival but it was locked with no one there! Upper beat barely fishable at all, only one decent casting spot on the whole length, water coloured and fast flowing. One small trout taken on wet March Brown. Very disappointed with the Glanusk service and fishery.

Joined by Oliver Burch on a very cold day with temperatures rising to a lofty 5 degrees centigrade, but thankfully dry with high cloud. Snow can still be seen on the high hills.
Fished upstream of the bridge in the morning. Slow start as expected when an adventurous small trout had a go at a sparkle dunn, freed itself and fled. Some time later after a small LDO rise managed to hang on to a nice 13 inch brownie which was tempted by a Partridge and Orange. Had a go at the Little Stream after lunch, again noticed a small LDO rise and this time hooked on to a 15 incher which fell to a Waterhen Bloa.
All in all a great day despite the cold

I really enjoyed a couple of hours there, it was so very cold and so I only stayed an hour or so and sadly caught nothing!

Sporadic LDO hatch from 1200 for two hours. The odd fish moved and one of 11 inches was released. A happy start.

Beautiful autumn day. The river was clearing and falling, so the conditions looked auspicious. 2lb and 2.5lb wild browns caught on a small stoat's tail, but no sign of the larger cousins until virtually the last cast of the day. Then a 15lb hen salmon caught again on a small stoat's tail. As the salmon was landed two otters started playing in the pool in front of us. Hard to imagine a better end to the day.
Quick word about Glanusk. Very warm welcome from the estate office and useful advice on flies and which pools to concentrate efforts on. The banks and access are in excellent condition and the river there is swarming with dippers which is always a good sign. Cannot recommend more highly.

No fish caught. Water level falling and by afternoon was in good shape. Disappointed not to have caught a fish.

Fantastic clear water, running through very fast a lovely stretch of water both upper and lower beats. I had 1 brown on a nymph weighing about a 1lb. Had a further take on a Blue Dun but didn't connect and then spent the rest of the day roaming the river to no further action. But plenty of fish moving, fly life was good for this time of year butI couldn't match the hatch. I will be back thank you for a great day!!

Great location, water clear and falling following heavy rain earlier in the week, weather sunny but cool, steady gentle rises mid morning to mid afternoon.
Landed four brown trout from 1/2 lb to a beautiful 1lb+ fish, all in good condition small emergers / dry flies.
Two fish taken.

Water fished well today but no salmon moved. Fun with trout to 1 1/2 lbs. on the dry flies between times. Wonderful hostess (Tiggy) who plied us with tea, chocolate cake & large chunks of local knowledge & experience on the river bank. We would all go back for more of everything! Thanks once again Allyson for the help with late bookings.
