1 Barbel

Hard day’s fishing compared to our last trip in July. The day started quickly with 15 chub in the first hour between 3 anglers. Then the river started to rise and it became very challenging with weed and branches making bait presentation challenging. MF was top rod with 11 chub, DC had 7 chub including one of 5.5 lbs and a bonus small Shad which he initially claimed was a chublet. MA had 4 chub in half an hour but then only a foul hooked minnow, and a barbed hook in his arse left on the bank by some untidy angler! At least we all caught on the day - no one wants to be out for a duck!

22 Chub

Fished in the wooded area of beat , two anglers fished one caught 6lb eel on meat and other caught 4lb barbel on pellet. Lots of weed flowing through this area at the moment.

Nice mornings float fishing before the river rose quickly bringing a lot of suspended weed and debris, a trout of about 1lb took a fancy to my luncheon meat !

River in perfect condition having risen over the past week following rain. Surprisingly little surface activity though. Handful of blue duns seen & 3 fish caught on imitations.

Little sign of fly activity or rising fish. Water level was low but clarity pretty good.
The two small trout caught were returned.
There was another group fishing the beats which was unexpected so we did not fish our favoured sections.
