A fun, if not hot and sweaty, beaster of an assault course, on an old favourite today !!! Agility is key here, and keyhole casting !! The winter floods have caused mayhem tbh !!! Some fab old pools have now gone, along with more woody debris across the river. Yes, it provides great cover and lovely deep pools, scoured under them, but its a scramble to get around !!! Always good fun, hard earned fish today on the dries ....as always!!!
I fished between eleven and just shy of 3pm .... Great mix of upwings on the go from one ish. Large Darks, brook duns, olive Uprights, and masses of black gnats!!!! Fish properly looking up from about half one .... Great fun today, where i could get a cast away...And, to think I gave this a dam good trim last season start !! Wonder if the Kington club does any work there anymore ????
Anyway, lost two lumping fish, powerful lunges , and then off !!! Gggrrrrrrrr.... Eight made it to my net, great fun on tiny dries....
Those stunning Arrow fish .... red spots and those distinctive parr markings that stay on the adult fish!!! They've gotta be the most stunning fish of all the wild stresms .... Just magical !!!
Anyway, I even dodged the rain, which was coming down quite heavy as I was driving back to Rhayader ...much needed i must say ..Even the Arrow needs a top up !!! Back out on thr streams next week on two client days ....Lovely jubbley !!!!

Saw plenty, caught none - lovely day out on a lovely bit of river. Nice warm spring day

Almost no water to fish. Very low and a worrying bluish tinge, possible algae, although the water was clear. Saw one fish bulge a couple of times, otherwise nothing doing. Lots of olive uprights and a few stoneflies, no mayflies, not really enough silt for them to be there in big numbers.

Beautiful day on the river. Managed to catch 2 x 18 inch Brown trout. One on a small olive emerger pattern and one on a green perigdon Lost two others. Lots of fly life as day went on (olives, LDO, the odd mayfly I believe, and a pinky looking fly, evidence of stonefly hatch also) Rises seemed to only be in certain water types/areas, other than those areas ( medium flow with cover) did not see much else. Water temp 12 degrees, suspect water level low for this time of year. Water very clear most places.
