Beautiful beat and sunny dry weather. Small hatch around 12.30pm but no fish rising.
Caught two small (8 inch) brownies fishing goldhead black and green nymphs from the Upper beat. Water low, cold and slightly coloured which might account for the lack of rising fish.

Fished 10-4pm. River high and clear. Sunny, with a cold East wind. Managed two trout early on when fishing spiders and a gold head. A few fish started rising at approx 11am to the odd LDO and Grannom. Caught a 2lb trout on a dry Adams at lunch time. The afternoon petered out with no hatch and no fish rising. My companion managed an 11" trout at 3.30 to a small goldhead. Water very cold. We could do with moving the wind around to the West.

"A bright but not a scorching sun
A southern breeze to curl the stream
and Master half our work is done" Thus wrote Izac and it seemed a perfect day weatherwise on the Usk but very few flies about - saw a couple of dark olives and one March brown. Hardly any rises - however, leaning over the stone bridge saw a rise and ten minutes later connected on a small iron blue and a lovely trout of 2 lbs (returned). This plus the wonderful scenery, the gamboling lambs, made a great day.

2 Trout - Brown, kept. Very hot day, many smaller fish seen rising throughout but not taking. Both fish caught around 8.30pm on Yellow bodied "daddy long legs" interpretations.
Once again, very reliable and smooth dealings with the Foundation and would again recommend the beat.

Everything was perfect - warm and sunny, little wind, river clear and falling after much rain, olives and stoneflies hatching but I didn't catch a thing and never saw a fish all day. C'est la vie.
