River looking rather low, sluggish and coloured by algal bloom. Despite these unpromising conditions and a chilly downstream breeze, we found pockets of surface action from the start, but the really spectacular action began at around 2.30 when the breeze finally dropped and some very good fish began dimpling in the glides. All fish taken on dry fly (Comparaduns and CDC patterns) and many of them a good size (3@17β and 6@14-15β. Wonderful fishing !

First time on this beat. 7βon Llanstephan gauge.
There are some lovely long glides, and back in the day when there were good salmon runs, some of the pools must have offered superb fly water and would have a joy to fish. All trout were small but two the grayling were sizable fish. I would say that it deserves a return visit, but my day was ruined by nasty fall. The high steep banks on the right bank near the top are extremely dangerous in places. Part of the bank collapsed while I was exiting resulting in a drop onto rocks and a serious shoulder injury.Which rather soured the day.

Back to one of my favourites today ... fishing between half ten and half two .....Lots of olive Uprights and baetis coming off, with the resident fish responding nicely!!!
Wriggly fish today, managed eight to the net, only small chaps, but, probably half a dozen or more, on and off !!! Ohhhh well , thats how it goes sometimes hey !!!
A low river, could do with a decent five or six inches extra height...Slow, careful wading needed at the mo, with ultra carefully presented dries too !!
A cracking dry fly session, again!! Also nice to see thr kingfisher dive into her burrow ...And, the dipper, nesting tight under the bridge !! Cracking nests too, fabulous stuff !!!!
Will give one of the Arrow beats a bash later in the week. I have a gent up in the Elan Valley tommoz, for a guided day, then another, on a river day ....
Been a cracking long weekend of Angling, happy days .....
