River comparatively high for this time of year with a bit of colour and still pushing through. Over head conditions were great, warm, with cloud cover most of the day. With the strong push it was difficult to present a bait and hold a feeder in the usual holding areas but after a move found a deepish hole on the back of a slack with some weed cover close by. This hole produced fish steadily throughout the day and would have probably produced more if I had stayed later. I packed up around 7 PM. Ended up with 12 Barbel largest in upper 7's smallest around 4 with majority of fish in the 5/6 lb bracket. Surprisingly no Chub although I did drop one at the net.. Another enjoyable day on the river Wye... Tks

Conditions looked OK, except water was up 2 feet. Nothing caught all day, fished all along stretch, used different methods, baits etc but not a sniff. Don't know what was going on, bit late for spawning but you never know. Lovely part of the river, nice easy access, expensive, which always hurts more if you don't catch. Until next time!

Rising river and colouring water. Lower stretch fished better in deeper runs amongst the shallow riffles. Plenty of barbel and a few chub.

What a fantastic day, took my son fishing, he has been fishing only a couple of times, but today he started off with a lovely Barbel on the second cast. By the time my uncle and I were set up he had already caught 3 Barbel. I decided not to fish until after lunch and just enjoy some father and son time. I was Mr landing net.
In fact after my son had caught 13 Barbel, he asked, no pleaded with me to take over as he was shattered and his arm ached. I added another 12 Barbel, all on Pellet, some feeder and some ledger.
A Red Letter day, the river was falling and the scenery fabulous. A wonderful day, thank you WUF.

Very slow day, with only one baby chub caught. Fished both ends of the stretch. The slowest day I have experienced on the Wye in six years. The main theories for the slow fishing are either the fish being turned off by the flood water / waiting to spawn or not being there to catch. I do not know the answer at this stage, but will persevere.
