No fish caught or seen but a pleasant spring day in lovely countryside.

An almost perfect spring day's fishing the lovely Caradoc beat. Hereford guage on 0.5m which seemed pretty ideal conditions for fly but I also fished a Devon minnow and flying c. Nothing caught or seen, with one other angler fishing the beat and more opposite also seeing nothing. The croys at top end fished well and I particularly enjoyed fishing the midstream rock above the links run and the links run into the bottom end pool, a midstream wade into the pool until it gets too deep. Saw a mink at bottom end of fishery. Thank you.

Mainly chub today to about 5lb and one barbel to 8lb between three of us. But still great to be on such a lovely stretch, look forward to a return visit next year.

Only one chub at 2lbs. Unusually for a Sunday there were no canoes at all and only one angler on the opposite bank.

1 Chub

Fishing slow to start but picked up later, river low and clear, weather sunny. As for comments previously regarding the opposite bank, we saw very few anglers, so this did not cause us any problems (surprising as it was a Sunday!).

4 Barbel, 6 Chub

Fished below the footbridge and managed a few fish. The scenery and the birdlife are nearly as good as the fishing. Fabulous stretch.

NINE other fish seen covered but no takers. A good day out, no canoes and no anglers on the opposite bank.

2 Salmon

A day of light cloud and a little early morning drizzle. Arrived at midday had a walk along the beat and pre baited a couple of swims. Had the place to myself and the first Barbel of 7 1/2lb arrived after about an hour. Caught the second Barbel about hour and a half later weighing in at 5 1/2lb. Had a quiet spell then had a Chub of 3lb 5oz. Started to rain at about 5pm when I had the final Barbel of 7lb 5oz. It then lashed down so I packed in and headed back to the holiday cottage. Fished top section between the gate and fishing hut, 2 chub early on, but besides numerous salmon leaping in the pools, nothing else doing.

2 Chub

10-12lbs cock salmon home made fly, silver and yellow size 12 hook at 1.30 pm Fish returned safely.
