No fish hooked (missed a few). Didn’t explore as much of the beat as I should. Access to a lot of the river is very restricted due to the overgrowth.

Only one fish rising to hatch and caught. River quite low and two otters seen by the cottage studio, a little later saw a mink, hope these have not taken to many fish as it is a great place to spend a day

1 pretty WBT for JD saved a blank. Otherwise not even a nibble for either of us. Fished PM until 9pm, only a few rises that weren't repeated. Water fresh and clear, little bit of a shower later on. Some bugs about.

First time fishing this beat and what a good beat to fish. Only fished ¾ of the length of the beat upriver sighting and targeting rising fish. Caught 6 on caddis dry fly and 3 on pheasant tail nymph with an orange tag. Quite surprising how deep some of the swims can get too. Very good beat will definitely be returning

Very warm and sunny, and river low.
Much of the river not accessible due to bank vegetation, and even though water was low, some very deep pools limit wading in places. So grateful however that time and effort has been made to provide access points which are clearly marked.
Beautiful, secluded beat.

Upstream dry fly klinkhammer. A couple of really fussy fish but worth the persistence. Access will be a problem if you struggle with mobility.
Great to see Rockfield Studios, an iconic recording studio.
Very few mayfly, not much fly life in general.

A lovely secluded section of the river, although access to the fishing is challenging as the banks were overgrown and had to hack through nettles and brambles to even see the river from the fields. Chest waders are essential as there is no fishing available from the bank. Trout were rising periodically and where I was able to cover them they we taking my dry fly. Had to leave a lunchtime, but would love to have stayed for the evening rise. A very enjoyable and reasonably challenging morning's fishing!

Access to the river difficult. No casting from bank possible. Perhaps river was up and bank reduced?

The river was basically unfishable in its present state.
Water chocolate brown cascading through and dangerous for wading even with a wading stick. I didn’t feel comfortable in any of the swims at the top end. I started in swim second from top fast flowing with a ruffle using streamer an. Anything else pointless. Lasted an hour pushing up into deeper water which around 4ft was not comfortable to wade in so I moved. I almost took a dive in the one below with the gravel bank on the far side depth went from 2 to 5 ft very close in and current extremely strong. I lost my footing and only saved from going belly up in the string current by grabbing a branch at the bankside. Apart from one swim at the top of the beat There were no swims where entry was reasonably safe and this hard a steep bank to climb out. Lovely setting but no chance of catching fish so with river rising cut my losses and left early. Wash off?
