Lovely day , bright and sunny so not ideal conditions, but there was colour in the water. Lots of streamer weed so a bit challenging finding clear spots to fish.

Only fished early morning to early afternoon.

Was really pleased and surprised to have a couple of big eels on meat.

Bites were steady all day - the eels were actually midday in bright sunshine which was unexpected

There was a small herd of cows with very young calves and a large bull at the entrance to the field and I had to wait quite a long time for these to move off as didn’t want to walk too close to these.

5 Chub, 2 Other

Hot, sunny day with a brisk downstream breeze. River on its bones. Fished the upper riffles of the beat with a PTN and took one small WBT. Walking down the beat, spotted numerous trout lurking in the shade of the deeper water under the trees. Casting from the bank is well-nigh impossible and access into the water down the steep banks is difficult for me. Given the low water conditions, best option was to walk back to the top of the beat and then head over the exposed rocks to the lower end of the riffle, wade into the middle of the stream and cast back to the bank. Exciting sight fishing. PTN again attracted much interest; pricked a few but had two lovely WBT around the 12" mark

All fish on trotted meat. Not sure if it's me I remember this beat as an easy walk over open banks. Not now. A narrow and somewhat overgrown path which seemed to finish two thirds down. Bottom section of the beat not really accessible other than wading with all your gear.
Still a lovely place and a cracking day's fishing
