Very tough day due to it being so hot and sunny - they just weren’t biting.
Had 5 small chub between us all day despite trying lots of different methods and baits. Still, we saw kingfishers, goosanders, swans and other wildlife and had a pleasant day on the river

Fished the top two swims without success, then the concrete wharf, which also proved fruitless.
Managed to find the Chub on the beach, albeit they continued to behave skittishly. Finally, encouraged a little activity from the croy.
More fish were caught on sweetcorn and luncheon meat than were caught on pellet and boilie.
Some work on the bank and some roping would prove beneficial as there were only six accessible swims.

Surprisingly tough day, river 3 foot up and dropping. Looked perfect for a few on the pellet. One Barbel about 5 and a 4lb Chub and that was my lot. Still as always great to spend last day of the river season in the Wye Valley.

River high, fast and brown. Weather fair, showers. Difficult conditions to hold bottom. Fished margins, close to submerged trees/shrubs. Three barbel caught on pellet one in meat. Lots of chub like knocks. Two fish hooked but lost in fast flow.

4 Barbel
