Met Adam mid morning as we arrived who was very helpful. River was a bit low and in need of some rain. I had a 3lb chub on a boilie in my first swim , moved later on to a swim with more flow and had some more chub to 4lb , rang the changes with hook baits . Unfortunately my son blanked but he still enjoyed himself and he liked the look of the fishery and wants to return in the autumn.

Lovely small stream, healthy water and a beautifull environment. With a 7” 4wht fly rod this is an amazing fishery.
Compliments to The Fishing Passport en the Wye and Usk Foundation.

All caught on self tied CDC emergers with green dubbing and sparkly tail! Seemed to be a real hit!
Water has cooled a lot since last weeks heat wave but water levels low and next weeks forecast won't help.

I only fished for 4 hours so I could get back home for the England game. Fished in the woods on what is now pretty much the only fishable swim in there now. The footpaths from the car park lane across to heart attack hill are well overgrown compared to last year. The gates are also full of weeds and brambles and a real struggle now. The path through the woods was never great but now feels even more eroded. Access will probably stop me going here again for a while at least. Caught 13 chub but not a sign of barbel, 10 ledgering and 3 on the float. It was easier to catch the chub on the float, however the ducks went mad for any feed and attacked my float constantly so gave up.

Fishing from 9 till 9 on a belated first trip to the Upper Wye this year, “the ladies” were most accommodating despite a freshening westerly which then gusted into the evening, killing any prospect of an evening rise. 14 degrees water temperature undoubtedly cooled from the Elan confluence further upstream. Airborne sedges and midge off and on p.m. No upwings at any time. Unsurprisingly, very few rising fish. However, grayling and trout were looking up from start to finish all day, and most of the fish caught (quite a few more missed, jagged or long-distance released - almost certainly grayling as usual!) were taken on my usual go-to #16-20 hares fur parachute emerger and #16-14 grizzle brown EH caddis. The rest were taken EU nymphing with fluoro-collared PT and olive quill jigs. Trout to 12” and three main year classes of grayling: 8-10” (good news for succession), 12-13” and 14-15”, the latter around 1.5lb. Carpe diem!
8 Trout, 31 Grayling

Fished for a couple of hours on an evening ticket. Plenty of fish rising 8-9pm, all caught on a team of wet flies.
