A stunning beat and if it was double bank fishing it might be worth the cost. As it was, we were unable to fish the upper section of the beat, including the very alluring Cadora pool, due to anglers on the other bank. I guess we could've fished opposite but we're pretty anti-social. A guy came and pegged the opposite bank for a match, and although he provided us with great entertainment when he fell in a couple of times, we shuddered at the thought of paying twenty five pounds each to fish across from a competition! We feel that fifteen to twenty pounds would be a fairer price. All this said, we loved it here. I managed to extract three good barbel and a very good chub whilst my companion broke a long blank spell with a chub. The swims were very interesting to fish and you always feel as though something might happen. It's our new favourite WUF barbel beat.

Access a little challenging and not easy wading. River on the high side and coloured but falling. A fresh silver salmon of around 7lbs, on a shrimp pattern off the croy just upstream of the fishing hut. Safely released. Dealing with the Foundation was a pleasure. Helpful people with helpful advice. Good website; easy to book, check weather and river levels. Fished Wyebank & Courtfield on two subsequent days. Very nice stretch of river which produced two lovely brown trout. Not easy to work out the beginning and end of the beat without help but assisted by very helpful ghillie on the day and by owner when planning the trip. Thanks to all and especially the WUF.

My first ever day on Upper Bigsweir. Very well organised by Wye Usk Foundtion and the beat description, direction and notes were spot on. The beat was well maintained and the owner has done a great job of managing the access and bank.

Nil catch even though conditions were good.

It was disappointing to see how Himalayan Balsam has now become the bank side monoculture - a few nettles left but even these are being squeezed out. A sign of the times!

No salmon caught although there were several in the beat and some of them appeared larger fish. Just not interested in what I had to offer. This angler is heading in the direction of a salmon blank this season although I'm sure I will not be alone, unfortunately.

Much nicer and quieter beat to be on during a weekday, far too many noisy motorbikes on the Wye Valley road at the W/E.

Nil catch at Upper Bigswear today, which was a little frustrating as there were grilse and larger salmon showing every-where, particularly just below the Triangles pool.

A 12lb cock fish on fly from Little Run on Sunday. It was a fresh fish in good condition with 1 sea lice.

Many thanks for sorting us some fishing unfortunately the water was rather coloured and nothing hooked but several Salmon were seen and at least we covered some!

No fish. Several salmon show just as darkness approached.
Lovely beat but struggled to relate map to cribs have new ones been cut ?? Be back.

Very nice beat with a good mixture of fly and spinnng. Unfortunately we didn't catch a thing. Arrived at 9.30 am just after high tide, so a little late and stayed until 7 pm. The only hint of a fish was a nibble on my spinner from a very small brown trout.

As to why we didn't see a fish? Maybe because we had no real rain in the prior 2 weeks. Maybe because we had a hard late winter, who knows?

A very pleasant days fishing in beautiful surroundings. I slowly progressed through every salmon pool starting at the Cockpit and finally caught a fish at the very top of the Cordora Pool with a pink flying condom - I initially got very excited, but subsequently found out that I had hooked a 12 pound Pike (tailed by two of it's "relatives" for some reason) - caught and released.

As a suggestion for the future it would be nice to be able to access the beat using a none 4 X 4 vehicle (possible if the access road ruts were filled with crushed hardcore, or similar).
