Fished about 11 to 3pm. 2 on nymphs, then a sparse hatch of LDOs between 1 and 2pm. Saw two fish rise, and caught one of them on an olive jingler.
Water clear, but a little high. 0.49m on the EA Trallong Gauge. Still it was very fishable.
Fished the bottom of the beat, parking in the bottom car park and walking through the fields. Had a nice chat with the farmer. Lots of water. Saw only about a quarter of it. Difficult to get to the Cilleni at the very bottom of the beat due to brambles covering the path along the trees.

Weather was mild with hardly any wind. River had some colour but dropped around a foot throughout the day. Pellet and feeder tactics caught all the fish. Biggest fish 8lb 1oz. A very enjoyable day.

Looking back, my first 0 catch return on the Wye in nearly two decades.
Overcast, misty, 7.5-9 air temp, 7.5 water temp. Fished 9:30-1
0.66 on Ddol Farm gauge
3 fish hooked and lost, 2x small and 1 very large trout after it jumped landing on the line, largest I’ve hooked on the Wye (ah the one that got away :-) All fish in faster water with the big trout in a tiny packet surrounded by white water in the middle of the river.
Some fly life at mid day.
Coming from the upper parking, taking the path river left-side, the path down to the river before the house does not appear to be there any more.
I found this some of the most challenging wading of all the beats on the Wye. Sure there is obviously challenging wading elsewhere with boulders and rocky gutters but this beats challenges were less obvious. Look at the water, make a plan of entry, fishing sequence then a couple of safe exits. But those plans got thwarted pretty much every time with the planned exits not being viable when in the river.
I only fished the upper 3rd of the beat due to my slow progress on the wading front.
I’ll definitely be back to this beat as it has huge potential.

Fished 2-5pm
Spoke to the land owner who was very friendly and pointed me in the best way to get down to the river as it isn’t obvious from the map. If you followed the map you’d be fine but the land owner gave a slightly different route further to the right.
Beautiful bit of river surprisingly wide (30+m) in places
Two small graying to had with a nice size grayling lost after it jumped.
