Had to fish in the woods as workman were working in the meadow section. We had 5 dace and 2 eels. Lots of canoes but they moved over to the other side once near us.

Barbel fishing confined to the morning and evening due to heavy canoe traffic. But took the opportunity after a good nap in the shade to wander the beat with a lure rod and banked 2 pike for 11lb and 23lb on Eastfield Wingman Lures. Biggest barbel went 9lb 4oz. A decent day given the clear and bright conditions.

Arrived at dawn and as mentioned for yesterday's feedback, pretty sure I saw an otter working the stretch. We gave it a few hours until the canoeists started again and again tried various swims etc. Nothing, barely a rattle on the tip.

Really disappointing session. Fished dawn till dusk. It was a bright, sunny day that meant the river was extremely busy with canoeists, wild swimmers and paddle boarders, meaning it was difficult to keep a line in the water between 09:30 and 16:00. Between the 2 of us we fished about half a dozen swims, covering everything from under our feet to the far margin. Tried a wide variety of baits and methods that have proved successful on other stretches of the Wye but the river appeared dead. Barely a rattle on the tip from chub. Very difficult to explain, but we did return the next day and I'm pretty sure that I saw an otter moving up the near margin. I followed him along the stretch for about 50 yards and then lost sight. I'm not 100% sure that it was an otter (although I'm struggling to think what else it could have been) and that would explain the complete lack of fish activity that we experienced.

Lots of boat traffic today!

The river was looking good and so was the weather but I didn’t find many fish. Fished the meadow with pellets and feeder. Tried the inside line with no success and then further out when canoes final stopped.
