Very attractive section of the Irfon.
Short session 11-1330.
Water conditions good, cold NE wind not so good.
No takes at any point across a variety of nymphs.

Easy walk from the road down and bank access along the stretch is relatively easy with well maintained gates and no barbed wire to cross!

Will try again in more favourable weather.

Good to return to this scenic beat with water lowish & clear.. Just a couple of hours before wind & rain arrived & nymphed only top pool without success. Floods have made access at bottom of beat more difficult with eroded banks.

Plenty of rising fish in the river; I just couldn't catch them. I caught 4 trout (the largest to 8") but missed many more. All fish were caught on CDC, coq de leon and hares mask generic emergers of sizes 14,16, and 18.

Weather was extremely warm and unfortunately on this occasion I did not catch. I still enjoyed a great afternoon on this beautiful stretch of the river. Many thanks.

River with a little bit of colour (river level at Cilmery at 0.635m 0800hrs) but cold (air temperature was a chilly and overcast 9C). I caught one small grayling (on a sedge emerger pattern on a barbless hook) and three trout (two at 18", both on a generic mayfly emerger pattern on barbless hooks). All returned. I found the fishing very hard (I'm not a confident wader) and very cold when wading. One kingfisher seen!

River was quite low but this stretch seems to hold up well even after long spells of dry weather, dry fly method used to rising fish, 2 x brown trout to the net and both released, 1 fish was well over a pound which was nice to see from the Irfon.

Beautiful beat. Hot sunny day, water low and clear. Quite a bit of surface activity throughout the day (including sedges and mayflies). All 5 trout, which included two 16 inchers, were tempted on dry flies - cdc (sizes 14 to 18). All returned.
