Great days fishing and an awesome piece of river in matching surroundings. Unfortunately, as there had been consistent rainfall for at least the day before, the river had a strong flow which would have required a better fisherman to attune to; but the fishing itself was enjoyable nonetheless. I fished both the dry and the nymph but no signs of life despite the ever-growing fly life; I can imagine after around 2 weeks of consistent warmer weather and less rain, considering the perfect pockets of river, fishing this river will be extremely enjoyable with potential to catch decent wild brown trout.
I fished with an 8'6 rod but would recommend smaller as the river is mostly under canopy ; but it is certainly not impossible to fish with a 9' as tighter sections can be avoided and there's plenty of river for at least an afternoon's fishing.
I would also recommend taking a smaller car if possible, driving to the beat is quite tight down country lanes and the parking itself for the beat is essentially a passing place, but there were VW vans able to get down the lanes and I saw nobody at all at the parking.

Raised one to a dry, but did not stick. Found lots of fish in the deeper holes but they are extremely skittish at the moment.

We only managed a little less than an hour here in the end. A beautiful evening in a special place. The beat is completely quiet, tucked away in little valley away from the main roads. Fished the bottom and middle of the beat, had a few offers to a klinkhammer and wasn't able to connect with any of them. The bottom of the beat is a series of tiny pools and runs, with a few fallen tree roots to provide cover for fish and likely casting spots..

River was still low and crystal clear, but the rain of the previous day had probably freshened things up a little. Weather was cool at 14-15 degrees but the valley was sheltered a little from the rather cold wind. Some fly life in evidence with olives coming off sporadically. Very little surface movement.

Super place to fish for a couple of hours, where connecting with a fish should probably be regarded as a bonus rather than an expectation!

Two of us returned to this beat after 10 years. Excellent peaceful location, river had reasonable volume of water mainly gently running over rocks, but a few smallish pools.

Access from the fields now very difficult/impossible – only one barred fence to climb in the centre of each the three fields. Impossible to get to the river at any other point, which means a long wade to exit at the next access point. Could be daunting in high water. Wading reasonable and not slippery, but needs care due to flow.

No fish seen or caught.

Was a little concerned as we arrived and chatting to a local were told “you may see the family of otters”. If we had been aware before booking, would have chosen a different beat as though love wildlife are doubtful these compatible with the limited fish available in this small stream.

Though the online booking system indicates previous visitors to this beat, very few returns appear on line. More would be very welcome and helpful in choosing beats.
