A guided day for a very pleasant chap who was from Herefordshire ... plumbed for an old favourite as the gent wanted to be shown the ropes on a wild stream, and was totally new to the whole experience of the confines of the stream, reading the water, where the trout are likely to be positioned in the river etc etc etc .... he took it all on board very well to be fair........
The Arrow was as blissful as ever and good to see still sitting at a reasonable height considering we've has no rain fir quite some time now !!! Cooler today, when I parked up at nine by the Whittern bridge it was reading 10 degrees in my truck !!
Olives and mayfly really got going at about half twoish ... My client did present his dry fly offerings very well and was rewarded with a few plump feisty Arrow fish ..... those markings are incredible !! Stunning as always, fish today ranging from eight to eleven inches . As mentioned before by previous reports some very professional tree work has been done ..... can that same team do up at the Kington beat of the Arrow....... I can almost hear her saying ...... don't forget me !!!!!! Tis a cracking job that's been done and no brash or branches left behind at all .... good to see .... healthy for the stream I'd say as there are young ones left behind , they'll soon offer a canopy.... the opposite bank is still the same so its just about perfect now !!! Must admit didn't see too many risers , but the ones that did come up were fun for my client .... all in all a really pleasant few hours and a gent that's well and truly hooked ..... what could be better ! Off to The Ponderosa and a well earned bottle of Old Speckled Hen I think, cheers folks !!

Fished p.m. & evening. Chat with friendly farmer checking his sheep, which he said were fond of the himalayan balsam on the banks! Plenty of fly life with a good fall of spinners in the evening, but little visible activity from fish. Only contact was a long range release late in the day of one of the few rising trout seen. Many substantial trees have been felled along the section above the upper bridge, where I came across a dead buzzard and a dead white-clawed crayfish.

Caught on PTN and safely returned. Good dry fly fishing later in the day with late mayfly hatches. Access a bit tricky further upstream but part of the challenge with small river fishing!!

Missed a couple of fish which I might have taken. However, the river still a little too high for most access
Not sure whether the tree clearing is a good or bad thing, time will tell

1 great fish for the river ~10 inches, two smaller. Nymphs through the slower pools. Great to see some bank maintenance in the middle section.

A beautiful spring day with finally some warmth, which I thought would bring the fish and fly life on.
Sadly the rain overnight meant the water was quite cool. Only 1 fish today take on a nymph no evidence of rising fish. This was taken between the bridges.
After lunch I ventured upstream where there was evidence of some quite severe tree felling.
This will let the light into the stream and will grow back to provide cover for the trout, but I fear this will take some years.

Lovely few hours on this beautiful stretch. Access and parking was very easy, and many trees had been pruned back on the stretch I fished from Titley Bridge up to the fence line at the end of the field. Unfortunately I have yet to master casting with my new 6ft 2 wt, so struggled to reach some of the pools on the right bank. Will definitely be back here.

Complete cloud cover,12 degrees and a down stream wind. Not a good start to my season! The only trout seen decided to take the black ptn on the dropper just as the point fly lodged itself on a rock at the bottom of the river. It thrashed about in a buttery yellow sort of way then threw the hook and swam off! Ah well next time....
