Two on a PTN fished under a klinkhammer NZ Style, one on the dry. All from the deeper holes. Good steady hatch throughout the day of an assortment of fly - beyond my entomological abilities to ID them.

Very windy day and overcast. Lots of flies but very few rising fish. Rose a couple of small browns on a small brown dry but nothing to hand. Lovely stretch of river which I intend to fish again when the head wind has died down a bit.

Well .... a different day today totally!!!breezy overcast and what turned out to be a tricky three hours this morning !! Ppfffttttt hark at me !! Anyone would think I'd made a bad batch of scones for a W.I meeting !!!!! It's always lovely being on the water ....
My usual beat ... local to me and so handy ..as is Kington too .. annoying downstream breeze ..strong too but persisted with tiny dries .. top of the first glide I just couldn't make out what they were rising too !!! I like a challenge but strewth they had me this morning ... First took a twenty black f fly ! I think just to cheer me up maybe !!! Possibly iron blues I couldn't see in fairness .....
Anyway small fellows this morning had another two on the f fly and another one on an eighteen black klinkhammer ....always good fun but no tubby hooligans were being fooled this morning! Crop looking as it could do with a two day session of rain and soil is starting to crack open like it does in August ..... sign of things to come maybe !
Still a fun but hard session and managed four on the dries ... hard earned brownies thus morning .... May give the Hindwell a bash one evening end of the week .....

Nice beat. Several rising trout in a single pool just upstream from the road bridge. Caught one 10" trout on a dry parachute adams in late afternoon. Missed/accidentally spooked a second. Good amount of fly life.

A pleasant mooch upstream this morning ... bowled up at nine and walked down the road to the first bridge of the beat .... cold and low I'd describe the Arrow at the moment !!! Masses of invertebrates under the stones ... Totally stuffed with life ....
Fishing was tricky ... fished a tiny 18 Parachute Greenwells and a 18 tan f fly ... fish rising from half ten in the two long glides... and tricky cause its only a foot maybe two along those sections .. carefull casting ... had three ditto in size all about nine or ten Inches lovely fish too ...
My last was a satisfying slurp of a take on the Parachute greenwells .... and boy did he go !!! The six foot two weight was bent double !!!eventually got him to the net superb.... best Arrow brown for ages .... a beauty , maybe 16 inches .. I rested him for a time , and awaaaaaaaaaay , nice and powerful !!!! Lovely job ...
Stealth is key here at the mo ... I spent three hours here and only went up to the second bridge ... four Arrow beauties this morning and I had a dipper and the kingfisher as company .... now thats hard to beat !!!! The Arrow Valley in Spring is a sight to behold !!!

A fun but cool session this morning ..... lovely to be out after quite a major op two weeks ago !! Overcast and breezy when i parked up at half eight at the Whittern Bridge pull in ..... opted for old Faithfull, my six foot two weight and a tiny tungsten flashback PTN ... always works well here early season .....
Lots of new features to this beat , although as always park at the first bridge walk roadside to the second , get in and wade up about three hundred yards passed the second .... makes it easy then to bimble back down the field to my truck !! As I said ,.new features and new trees down from the violent storms .... not to awkward at the mo but summer growth may cause an issue for some ....
Fish as usual here early season hard to locate.... but eventually found the first abd second in deep water ! Surprisingly sharp aggressive hits to the nymph top !! Nice to get a bend in the rod though !! Last fish was under the second bridge I the deep water ... nice ten inch brownie ... excellent !!! No more action after that ... abd slipped out into the field before that prominent acute left upstream bend in the river ... a nice mooch back and a pleasant cuppa from the flask.... Happy days !!!! Up to Claerwen Reservoir on Thursday see if the brownies are ready to party up on the Elenydd ..... lovely job ....

Two smaller trout taken on the nymph and one specimen fish hooked then inevitably snagged and lost on the dry! Rocketed up from a deep 5ft+ hole at the bottom of one of the longer flat pools.

A smashing little beat but for the overgrown bushies and falling trees everywhere, with no sign of brownies or minnows anywhere, not even livestock in the fields. I don't think I'll be returning to this area, it had taken me 2 hrs to get here.

Did have intentions to head to Cregrina , but pretty knackered after some lugging and digging jobs landscaping the back garden so opted for very local, my old favourite The Whittern beat . . .
Arrived just after nine , muggy overcast and we did have a far bit of drizzle last night looking at my rain gauge at home !!! Seemed fresher in the river than thr other week ! So stuck with a tiny dry Parachute Greenwells and Iron Blue dun and had good takes on them and netted the four that made it too the net !! Three missed fish this morning too ! DOOOH !
Fished between the two bridges and a bit up passed the Titley Bridge ! Fish all between six and ten inches this morning ! Very stealthy wading required at the mo and although a few risers in the two glides !! Tricky to get at and only managed one from the first long glide !! How the season changes, go back two months and you could snaffle three or four out of each of the glides no problem!!
Still a fun morning ! Counted five squirrels I sighted and actually it's been a bumper season for them ! Hence the mass thin out regime I've been having at home down in our wood !!! .410 is on sustained fire I think !!!! Lol !!! A fun three hours on a favourite beat , back to one of the Edw beats end of the week ! Sorted . . . . .

An overcast cool , opted for a local beat as up to the Elan Valley on Sunday chasing brownies on either Claerwen or Craig Coch! Anyway , arrived at the Whittern Bridge at eight bells, kitted up and walked down the Road to the Hunton Bridge beat start . . . .
Very low so stuck with a tiny Parachute Pheasant Tail did see a couple of rises and kept disturbance down to a minimum , but very very difficult with most of the wading level not over knee height !!!
Three fish this morning , all between eight and ten inches! Good takes on the dries and nice to be rewarded , with fishing so tricky in the the low water !! Still plenty of bullheads under the stones ! And five I lifted , produced four tubby bullies !! Lol
A fun but brief session ,.called it a day just passed the second bridge! Worked that lovely run which incidentally has a large ash bough in it oh and also a big bough down in the Bridge pool too !!! Was too big to man handle on my own !! Doooooh . . .
Three beauties this morning , so a relaxing session , Mrs A shopping in Worcester on the Sunday , so a full day up in the Elenydd !!! Lovely job!! These wild streams in need of sustenance now . . . . . H2o pleeeeeeeeeeeeease !!!!!
