First time on this beat and wont be the last.
River looked like it was on its bones, and in need of a good flush out.
Found fish in the deeper pools, but they were very skittish. Vanishing as soon as the leader hit the water, probably my poor technique.
3 trout caught on dries and 1 on a nymph.
Spotted 3 very nice fish but in very awkward areas, having to wade to get near them spooked them immediately. They dont get big by being stupid.

Another day on the Edw. A wet start to the day but the weather was improving towards lunch time. Plenty of nice trout caught up to 14". Spooked most of the nice trout in the clear and low runs.Dry fly and nymph were equally successful.

Having retreated from the Irfon that had come up and coloured and become unfishable due to the mornings rain, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Edw unaffected by the rain.

Water low and clear but plenty of trout feeding in the runs. Towards the top end of the beat I spotted an eel about 60 cm long in one of the pools. Trout up to 12" caught.

Lovely day but unfortunately didn’t catch but that’s more down to my experience than no fish riding. I will be back.

Stuck to dry fly on upper section of beat. Two trout 6" and 11" with a couple more (and numerous salmon parr) self-releasing on the barbless hook. Very attractive section of water, but tricky wading on sloping slabs of bedrock in upper pools. Several flypasts by kingfisher.

The first-time fishing Edw Aberedw – although we had some decent rain a few days before the river seemed a little low. Looking over the bridge before we started our session we saw no fish at all – nothing moving, and it was like that for most of the day.
I had 4 very small WBT to a mix of Hares Ear and a small brown dry.
Even though there was a lack of fish that did not spoil a great days fishing.

A really enjoyable day's fishing even there weren't many fish to be seen and those we did see were all small, in the 3 to 4 inch range.
I had one small brownie and missed a few more on a Goldbead Hare's ear.
It was the first time I had fished at Aberedw and only the second time fly fishing a river so a lack of experience may have had a lot to do with (almost) lack of fish.

Another excellent day on the Edw. Started mid morning and fished pretty hard until the evening, covering the full length of the bottom section of the beat. The water was pretty low and very clear, so a stealthy approach was required. The slower areas were very tough to fish due to the water clarity, so I concentrated on the faster pockets, pools, riffles and runs. Setup for most of the day was the Duo, with a simple copper-beaded nymph under a #14 caddis pattern. Dry/nymph ratio was probably 1:5. Fish came pretty steadily throughout the day from most of the likely spots for the conditions. Lots of trout around, but a similar number of salmon parr who were present throughout the stretch and feeding very aggresively. Excellent to see! A massive thanks to the W&U folk for all the work getting this stream out to us anglers, appreciated!
