Quiet in the morning. No fish at all on the surface. Very few showing during the afternoon but took 5 on a minnow gosling in sensible fishy looking spots (credit to Oliver Burch for that fly).

5 Trout

Fished for 3 hours after 2.30pm. Overcast and mild . No fish rising so tried traditional wet flies. No success probably down to operator error!

My first time on this beautiful beat. Water level a bit low and clear as gin. Hardly any flies coming off and therefore no rising trout. Fishes the deeper parts with klink and nymph. Both trout caught on the nymph. My day was made by a Kingfisher who stayed quite close to me for a while - clearly he was not too keen on the competition.

Fished in the morning from 9am till 1pm. Tried the upper part of the beat up along the wood. One nice WBT approx 10” on a large dry sedge safely returned and a couple of takes missed.

Fished for a couple of hours from 3pm. A few fish rising and tried para adams without success.

Fist two flies on Mayfly, but still not the size of hatch we should be having

Went along in the evening to see if there was a rise. Warm, overcast with a little rain. Loads of flies of every type but surprisingly little activity. Tried prospecting with parachute adams and french partridge mayfly but blanked.

Fantastic day with our guide Oliver. A challenging day with fewer trout rising the expected, however plenty to keep us interested and a good number of fantastic quality fish.

One Trout Approx 10oz caught on mayfly pattern And a few takes on a gold beaded PT nymph. Beautiful stretch of the river Arrow but only managed a couple of hours in the late evening Before loosing the light. Will return to fish the lower section next time

No fish. Very strange day with hardly a rise and very quiet. This is usually a prolific beat too. It is beautiful and wonderfully wild. WATCH out for nesting kingfishers.
