A rising river but the first flush through so loads of silk weed made fishing really hard. Found a sunken tree and fished behind that with reduced weed issues I managed 4 barbel with 2 over 8Ib and 2 at just over 5Ib. Great stretch as always. Love the Wye

A challenging day. In the 24 hours after booking the river coloured up heavily. With the downstream wind still gusting strongly despite forecasts there were no hatches. Determined not to spend the day blind nymphing I worked shallow seams and edges with dries. This produced 3 vicious takes to a large Klink but unfortunately resulted in no hookups. The fishing was not helped by 3 dog owners walking up the edge of the river ahead of me throwing sticks into the stream for their pets to retrieve. To add to this disturbance 2 canoeists came down through all the fishable water and appeared to pull out at the fishing parking area. I assume they have permission to do this and know the combination on the gate padlock .....? Still despite all this it was enjoyable to be on the river.

Four of us fished the left bank, in not too good conditions (wind was coming straight at us) in pouring rain. Hard casting into the wind , so after lunch fished the right hand bank.
The hill behind us gave us better shelter and between us hooked and landed 10 fish averaging between 3/4 lb and 1lb and a half. (Not massive but extremely hard fighting little beauties). All returned safe and sound.
Looking forward to coming back to this lovely little upland Llyn.
