3 seasons in 1 day! Overcast, then rain , then wind , followed by bright sun. Thought it would bring the bugs out but they were having a day off.
Water low and clear.
Very few rising fish, fished until 9.30pm . Hooked 2 (1 nymphing, 1 on a crippled mayfly pattern) but both shook the hook.

Water clear but no weed. Fished faster water upstream - path dicey in places but swims idyllic. No joy fishing for barbel though a few chub on meat and pellet. Waggler with hemp and corn outstanding for non stop action from chub and quality dace. Waders pretty essential here -even to get on to the gravel beaches.

Lovely stretch of water, will be coming back for another go here. Fished the faster water and managed to catch some barbel just like it was a couple of years ago. Showers made the banks rather slippery which is why I slipped and fell in, still caught the barbel though!
Feeder and pellets were the successful tactics.

One brown trout caught and returned on worm. Really hard day's fishing, the weather was against us all day. Fished 8am until 4.30pm.

Enjoyable day as ever. Fished the pegs in the woods around the Lucky Stone. Plenty of Chub action but the Barbel are still hard to come by on this section at the moment. Mind you, the one that was caught tipped the scales at exactly 10lb so was a good fish.
One point to note is that the path through the woods is particularly treacherous in one area and is particularly so after rain.

Great scenery. Lovely place to fish. Tough fishing conditions. Low water level and very windy (as expected).
