First visit to this stretch of the wye, a low fast section but perfect for trotting a float.
All fish caught using either banded pellet or meat.
Barbel to 4lb
Chub to 5lb+
Brilliant day with no stop action as long as I kept the feed going in.

With water levels lower than our previous visit swim choice was limited. Didn’t see the otters this time, but a 15lb salmon lay on the rocks of the second wier.
The canoes were a bit of a nuisance for an hour around 3.30, particularly one that was playing loud music, this spoils the experience for everyone including the wildlife. Why do the canoe companies allow this?

Couple of small browns to dries, a couple more off the hook but it was very tough today. Low and clear water so fish spooky to begin with; also an angler on the far bank who was a nice chap but think we probably hindered each other a bit in these conditions. Some BWOs and pale wateries began to hatch at times and one or two trout would start to rise, but then one of many light rain showers would come in and everything would shut down. There was light rain for much of the day but unfortunately this did not really seem to affect the river level - after a dry spell I guess all the surrounding plants in the catchment were soaking most of that up before it could reach the river, it needs more!

Fishing is slow low water and spooky fish. Took a sedge in fast water. Nice fish about 13 inches. Very healthy.

Sunny intervals, coolish, a nice breeze and a 19 degree water temperature.
Slightly hampered on swim selection as there were 3 guys on the the opposite syndicate stretch casting across with two rods each. What I view to be the two most likely at this time of year were free but we also tried 3 new swims but with no bites. One barbel from each swim, one came midday (5lb) and the other one (6lb) 5 seconds after having counted down from 10 on the last cast of the day with my last PVA bag! That would have been my first Wye blank before December so a relief and reward for pushing to the end. A lovely peaceful beat but hard today.
