1st time fly fishing, son hooked 1 but lost it with two meters to go

Other fish 2 bleak , 2 dace, took float and ledger set ups , got a swim going , good day , most the water slow so fished the faster shallow water all good

Fly only. All trout returned. Water level very low. At the 'Sewage pool' I tested for bugs etc and it was very poor. Lots of slime covering rocks. The trout caught looked very healthy and ranged from approx .5lb to 1.5 lb. Water temp approx. 15 degrees.

Short evening session. Didn't see another soul from when I started at 18:30 until I packed up at dark, bliss.

Great fishing, almost non stop action, finished with 5 nice chub and 2 lovely barbel, biggest 8lb 13oz.

All came on boilie fished just a gentle underhand lob out using my old centrepin, no need to launch a great big bomb across the river. Fed a dozen or so boilies over the top by hand every 15 minutes or so and that was it, simple leger rig. No need to chuck loads of bait in.
