Reservoir very full, right back to the steep banking beneath the path, which limited safe access to the waters edge to only a couple of spots from the path, and impossible to circumnavigate to the opposite side, as I would normally do. A few fish rising but nothing interested in what i had to offer: wet, dry, nymph, blobs etc on #8 floating and slow sink. Erratic cold wind but, as usual, marvellously quiet and peaceful. Tripped in the water, landed on a wee river fly rod I hadn’t had out of the tube for years, broke it, filled my waders and got cold wet feet!! But hey, great to be out playing again.

River high and flowing very strong, brisk downstream wind, cold and overcast (contrary to weather forecast). Very little fly life, bar a couple of olives. Lots of fairly recent tree surgery and several trees down and in the river. Nymphed with no success.

We used to go to Usk Reservoir since 1992 every year till 2008
and we used to catch trout - everytime 4

Today fishing all day till 4pm - ZERO caught

Talking to 12 other guys - all ZERO fish - MOST IF NOT ALL TELL US THE Lithuanian foreigners go to fish there AFTER 7pm and fish all night
Now this makes a lot of sense - as on our walks around the USK Resivoiur to I personnaly saw 5 to 8 camp fires that had been used long the edge heading uptowards to end of the reservoir
Now tell me that NO CAMP FIRES are allowed ! - when you can clearly see someone has been having fires - fire pits and big ones at that.
The fisherman today confirmed these take place at night when no wardons are around - and the Lithuanian foreigners fish from 7pm to morning - fact

NO WOUNDER WHY WE NEVER CAUGHT ANYTHING TODAY - and talking to all the other fsihermen aslo - and neither did they

I feel its a waste of time fishing there these days - as it clearly appears NO FISH are in the USK reservoir
A Waste of money spent today fishing

Suggest you get some guys to walk around and have a look at the number of burnt out fire pits !!!!

SHOCKING is my thoughts from what I saw today & Heard from other fishermen there today

No one wiill take any notice on reading this I am sure
