Hav'nt fished here for many years, it started to get heavily fished so I left it alone. Certainly not back to its best but a loverly place none the less. Started at the bottom of the beat and fished through the entire glide there and couldn't find anything. And just as I found a couple there was a hatch and they all came up on top. Caught 3 more and a trout on dries and then they started to get very picky, after a frustrating hour I gave in and moved on. It seems like the fish have shoaled up now because I didn't find much anywhere else. The water temp was extremely cold today so it was good to see the fish respond so well to the hatch as it was the first I have seen all winter !
Grayling all a good size up to 14" and trout to 12".

Water high but clear. Had hoped for crisp and chilly but sadly had damp drizzle on and off, but never a bad day on the river!
Struggled to find the fish, stayed on a relatively short stretch around the hut - there is a nice gravel stretch just upstream.
Caught two very small grayling either side of lunch, same spot, same size.......probably the same fish! Both times on small (18) gold headed nymph.
Great beat, masses of options, mainly over bedrock and generally access very straightforward with a path along the right bank.

Me and my brother covered all the pools on this stretch trotting maggots and managed 3 grayling a piece, all of which were decent fish. Probably should have brought my nymphing rod as well to get the best out of the stretch. Stunning river. Access to the second field from the bottom end was very difficult due to a collapsed river bank which has dragged the fence down into the river.

Two of us covered virtually the entire beat trotting maggots in what I would class as pretty good winter conditions - level 0.6 at Climery after high water a few days before, good water clarity, and stable daytime temperatures for several days (4/5 degrees). Very hard work, I caught all 8 fish from just two pools, my brother blanked. Best grayling 1lb 6oz. Absolutely stunning scenery and a testing wild river. Trying another beat tomorrow.

Hard work couldn’t find the fish or they weren’t feeding due to drop in temp of water. But mate had one on first cast only bite of the day . Still had a great day kept company by a kingfisher showing his fishing skills

Too cold for any real chance of a fish but there’s more to fishing than catching fish! Just nice to sit next to the river
