Oddly quiet for me - obviously not on the fish. Started at a croy in the woods, but very rocky tackle snagging river bed, so moved to 'The Spike', which is a nice even paced glide, with weed. Lots of potential but take a rope and dog spike and its a wild bank, so no space for chair etc.

Second day of our only trip to the mighty Wye this year. Foy Bridge is a tricky beat for a Father and Son to fish together. But we were late booking so our own fault. There's one double swim on the right bank and it served us well in the end. 2 fin perfect chub (ca 3 lb) and 5lb whiskery one came to the net - good old luncheon meat did the trick. Thank you WUF.

Good access and great selection of pegs to fish.Best beat I've been on. Seemingly good height and colour.Overcast and mild.....what possibly could go wrong. Had the wrong bit of meat at the end ....me!!!! Sreams fish ...for a competent angler!!! Did foul hook an inch and a half minnow..does that count??? Fishing equipment for sale ....rods barely bent!!! DEVASTATED!!!!!

Beat:Llyn Craigypistyll (Aberystwyth AA)

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

No. of Anglers:1

Llyn Craigypistyll was brim full, but very weedy along both banks. Out to 15-20 yards from the bank. In a strong breeze it was difficult to see the gaps in the weed and fishing was difficult. Caught one 8" trout on a small sedgehog and moved a few others. It was strangely quiet. Moved to Syfydrin in mid-afternoon for an hour and quickly caught 3 nice trout and moved a few others. It was much more sheltered there. About a dozen trail bikes making plenty of noise, zooming about the roads and hillsides. They were just enjoying themselves in the outdoors, same as us.
