Had decided to give the fishing a miss due to low clear conditions but noticed a (Very) slight rise on EA river level site so went for a shortened afternoon/evening session. Good move, fish came on the feed when light levels dropped and had a very enjoyable session. Barbel were all in the 3-5lb range but both the Chub were big ‘uns, both over 4lb. River was still very low though.

First time on this great beat. Finding the fish was a challenge with the low water, but searching out the deeper runs I had some joy. Not a bagful but really good looking heavy fish.

Lovely stretch of the Wye this one with numerous access points along nearly all the stretch.
Started at the bottom of the stretch on what i thought was the beat limit but was informed that i was below the limit of the island swim. Luckily I only spent the first hour there and managed two really small baby barbel which were absolutely pristine in their colours. A great sign for the future of this river.
A move much further up the beat then saw me lose a decent fish. That's only the second one this season which was hard to take but it happens.
Kingfishers as per usual were super busy and feasting on the minnows around me which is always a joy to see on the river.

River low as expected so it’s a matter of finding anywhere deeper than a couple of feet. Most chub on rolling meat.
