Worst days fishing in many years of this excellent beat. River quite high but fishable. Very very cold. Hatch around midday but no takers. One trout about 8oz surrendered itself in sympathy to a down stream nymph

Beautiful venue, with easy access including stiles over, and gates through, the electric fence. I fished the stretch between the weir and the footbridge. River was not particularly high but flowing fast after rain all day yesterday and I was a bit wary about wading in parts.
No rises, and no sign of a hatch, so stuck to nymphs and west, but no luck. Hopefully a return later in the season will prove more productive.

River in perfect condition (Brecon gauge at 10"). Bright and sunny all day - but cold. Intermittent chilly breeze from NE. Steady dribble of olives emerging over the day with occasional brief hatches. Martins switched on to them very quickly but not the trout. Hardly saw any rises all day. Persevered with nymphs until 15:30 but retired defeated.
