Travelled from oxford, searing heat made the day uncomfortable with only 1 chub for our efforts.
Sadly the old weed bed that the carp loved is no more to be replaced by pebbles with a coating of brown crap, I’m Guessing this is because of the chicken farms.
There are plenty of chub in the lower shallow sections but no way to get to them because of the steep banks and overgrown foliage, maybe if the Wye and usk could get it cut back a few times a year the fishing would be better and worth the £53 day ticket price.
Sad to see this beat in such a state, I would avoid in favour of beats with more flow.

1 Chub

Fished home farm day before fish everywhere,Thomas wood was completely different 2 of us tried everything could not get a bite, soon as a ground bait feeder hit the water pike we’re smashing any fish around, tried float fishing and rolling single baits into shadows nothing, but we left early afternoon but I would of imagine it would of got better when the sun dropped definitely go back. I put it down to it being the hottest day of the year.

A nice beat with good access to swims however the track leading down to the beat is bit of a challenge but ok if you don’t care too much about your vehicle suspension or clutch.

Beautiful stretch albeit difficult access as no swims or paths had been cleared. It was the hottest day of year so we did expect it to be difficult plus we saw a barbel and chub still spawning in one location.

We caught the fish in the evening in the lower sections.

Fished feeder and float with pellet / corn etc from 4.30am to 11am with no interest. High temperatures and river relatively low. Decided enough was enough and left at midday. Lovely stretch of river and well maintained fishing access. Will certainly fish here again.
