1 Trout

River recovering from high water but running off nicely . Fished slacks and creases fed regularly and fish came on mid late afternoon

4 Barbel, 5 Chub

No fish and no anglers about except for 8 big black birds. Can't understand why, with so few fish about, these are able to frequent a struggling river some 40 miles up stream.

River starting to fine down , all 9 barbel to one swim . Pellet

River dropping and losing colour, but very cold. Very hard going with not many bites. Perhaps 4-5 swims fish able.

Bites were hard to come by in the conditions but eventually fish fell to pellet and luncheon meat . A lovely beat . Biggest chub 4lb .

1 Barbel, 8 Chub

The river was high and coloured after recent rain. We fished a halibut-based paste with swim feeders hoping to catch barbel but only managed to catch chub, from 1 1/2 lbs to 4lbs. Nonetheless, we had a good day. We did see 2 salmon jumping near the right bank during the day. We will be back!

10 Chub

Water was high enough to rule out several swims but still there were a total of 6 anglers on both banks. The fish came from no more than 2-3 rod lengths out inside the crease. Pellets were ignored. Paprika flavoured Spam got their interest. (Two swims down anglers caught 3 barbel on pellets…)
Barbel nudging double figures middle of the day and a five pounder as the light started to fade late afternoon. Others were eels, one c. 3lbs.
