Spent a few hours on this beat . Plenty of flies coming off, but only saw a few rises to them, and failed to connect with any. Fished upstream wet fly first, then a mixture of PTN, wet and dry. River was very low. Kept away from the lower part of the beat by a pair of very territorial swans.

Fished for 4 hours with micro nymph and caught two trout and two OOS Greyling, all roughly 1lb+. One trout kept for supper. Sadly could not stay for longer due to flat car battery. Broad but beautiful beat, good to see plenty of large salmon jumping.

Day began warm and bright before clouding over. Eventually the wind drove me home.

I found it very difficult going for some reason…

Both caught on nymphs in the very fast shallow water.

Didn’t fish this. Today, other folks had commented on water levels Being too low so headed out for some salmon fishing instead.

Great day on the water saw a few smaller salmon making there way through vanstone and one kicking it’s tail to get op the rapids at the neck of the V pool. No salmon, but a pretty decent pike gave me some excitement.

One or two fish splashing at the bottom of the Vanstone pool. But no takers.

Beats well marked and access all good.
