A brief reconnaissance in preparation for a future visit - some lovely water and plenty of it. The rain and wind didn’t stop the fish showing and had great sport on dries. Looking forward to spending a day on this beat - you need it!

Attractive beat but the river was low and very slow in places. Some fly life of little interest to the fish. The faster water and nymph proved the best chance.

River low. A lot of fly life after 11.30 - various species, including huge swarms of midge. Fish caught on dries - Olive imitators. Some fish seen feeding very selectively on what appeared to be surface midge

A couple of hours in the afternoon with hatching olives and mayfly and rising trout in one pool that ignored everything I threw at them, probably fixated on olive emergers.

River was on dead summer low, ‘on its bones’. Fished with dry fly all day. Fish were spooky. A few intermittent fly hatches, mainly olive uprights

There are a few fish feeding on the surface but seem to be totally oblivious to anything I put across them.

Beat:Clwb Godre'r Mynydd Du
Fishing:All Species (in season)

A lovely stretch of river but only seemed to contain very small (4-5 inch) trout which took my fly so quickly that I was unable to connect. I fished mainly dry fly but also tried nymph and wet flies but without success.
