No luck today! Did manage a take on a Gold Bead Hares Ear in the faster water but he didn’t stay on. Plenty of fly life around the 6pm mark with occasional rises but none to my dry fly offerings. Parking nice and close to the beat but I would urge care when walking down to the river through the gate opposite where the parking is. The route down can be slightly precarious so take your time. Not to bad walking along the beat it’s generally ok, although a slight bit of bushwhacking might be called for.
Did catch a glimpse of a mink but couldn’t get my phone out quick enough to take a pic!
Wading was ok but current can be pretty strong and can also be slightly rocky underfoot

Chub caught on the float using pellet. Also tried feeder tactic to no avail. Lovely beat though.

All caught at the bottom end of the beat in the fast water on a variety of baits. Have been fishing here for years and never known the Barbel so elusive ??

Nice final visit of the season, although I couldn't find any big trout, or even medium trout. Caught four small ones as the evening went on, mostly on ptn.

Beautiful spot. Sunny. Water fast and not easy fishing. Managed to pull out a nice Barbel and two Chub on Pellet. Lots of Chublets on float with maggot.

What a difference a day makes! Couldn’t stop catching yesterday. Today was a real struggle. Same beat, same swims, same tactics. The only real difference was that today was bright sunshine. It was only an issue compared with normal standards. 4 chub and a barbel would be a great result at most venues! And just being at this wonderful fishery is enough really. Had a good chat with Stefan. Great to meet such an enthusiastic bailiff - he clearly loves his job and helping his guests with knowledge , guidance and good humour.
