Didn’t fish as the water was up and very cloudy. Lovely walk down the bank however. Will book on the day instead of in advance in future.

5 Barbel, 3 Chub

The corner swim looked seriously fishy but is a total snag pit, as are most of the swims in the run below it. Lost 6 barbel and about 15 feeders on the corner. Lovely looking stretch wish I’d tried the swims at start of beat. One in particular looked tasty when driving back up. But hindsight is a great thing!

Chub we’re all fairly small by wye standards. Beautiful but don’t think I’d fish this stretch again. My bank balance can’t stretch to losing that many feeders in one session.

5 Chub

Spent the second day like the first, a lot of effort, but not much reward. Using the usual float or ledger tactics

2 Barbel

Fresh ish 36" cock fish on homemade fly. First salmon since October 2017.

Small 8inch brown trout caught on dry fly.

River still disappointingly low first thing for salmon fishing, but rose through the day and was unfishable by tea time with the clarity very poor. Two fish did show at the bottom of the beat in the afternoon though, one quite coloured.
Had some entertainment with the trout rod, first in the Island stream then in Rectory stream with the fish taking a GRHE or an Iron Blue dun. As usual, many more missed and came off.

7 Trout, 3 Grayling

Fished the last peg. Caught through out the day until I left at 2.00 fed up with canoeists going through my line
Fished on pellet but better fish caught on 12mm boilie. Put plenty of hemp in the feed

9 Barbel, 8 Chub

Some very nice barbel from this stretch with the vast majority weighing around 8lb to 8.08lb

11 Barbel, 4 Chub

Went down for a couple of hours in the evening. River up a bit and coloured. The evening turned cold and windy. Unsurprisingly little fly activity and nothing rising . Tried duo with ptn without success.
