6 Trout

My last 3 visits to the wonderful Wye resulted in just a baby barbel and 6 chub but hopes were still high given nice warm overcast conditions on what is a new beat for me.

I fished 3 different swims and managed barbel of 5, 5.5 and 6.5, and chub up to 4.5. I had the barbel on pellet feeder with assorted hook baits, and the chub on the float with meat and hemp. All in all a triffic days fishing on a beautiful beat when most of my changes produced fish. Thanks to WUF for making the fisheries available and providing a quality searchable website.

Good day, calm water, caught two rainbow on mep spinner, started 11.30 am on float and worm nothing doing, changed to spinner caught one first cast, second twenty minutes later, lost two at surface with a twisted spinner, excellent day.

A beautiful early morning start led to 1 brown trout taking a motana caught late morning. I let the current bring the fly through the fast flow and the fish took after a few casts. A few knocks the rest of the day, some regular locals gave some very friendly and helpful advice which was very welcoming.
I will be returning to this beat :)

Really enjoyable day roving down the river. There were 3 of us. One on float and pellet and 2 on feeder and meat/pellet. The river was quite low and clear but still had a reasonable flow.
Most of the chub came to the float rod up to about 3lb. Biggest chub on the feeder was also 3lb. Sadly no barbel and no sightings either, however a surprise 2lb perch on pellet made our day.

11 x trout 6-8 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. Stream may have risen a bit during Saturday's rain, but summer low levels and clear water again now.

4 hooked but only landed the 1. Dry day with sunny spells and low wind.

Fished the right bank for a few hours. Poor prospects with 7’’ on the gauge and the river carrying a copper tinge presumably after the weekend rain. A few small trout and a few escapees on various nymphs in the faster water but it was hard going.
